After graduating summa cum laude from Baylor University with a BBA in Accounting, Tom went to work for Arthur Andersen & Co., CPAs.   He was recruited by a regional pharmaceutical  company and left public accounting to serve as that company’s controller.   The company grew rapidly, went “public” and was subsequently acquired by an international pharmaceutical company.  At the time, he left the pharmaceutical industry, Tom was Executive Vice President of the company's United States subsidiary.

Tom, a Certified Public Accountant, returned to the public practice of accounting in 1982 with Shaw, Moore & Co. and later practiced with his wife, also a CPA, as Ball & Company, CPAs.  Tom’s practice consisted primarily of tax return preparation, bookkeeping services, 401k Plan design and administration, employee leasing, private placement stock issues, real estate development ventures and small business consulting services.  

Tom left public accounting in 1988 to pursue financial ventures related to sub-prime financial services including the development of software for sub-prime lenders.

Tom has been active in his church and community.  His hobbies include hot rods, fly fishing and genealogy.
